After all the snow we just got, I am starting to look forward to Spring. I know, the snow is gone already. It left almost faster than it appeared. But it’s still chilly, the ground is still soggy, and the boots and coats are still in the hall closet, ready to be worn again. I am ready for the new Spring choices. Flip flops, light sweaters, capri pants. Warm weather, green grass. Flowers blooming. Perfect for family portraits!

Here is another family ensemble to give you ideas for fun, colorful and coordinating outfits for your portrait session. I always stress to wear what makes you comfortable. Be yourself. Let your personality shine through. But still, sometimes it’s hard to do that and make sure everyone looks put together and coordinated. This ensemble is fresh and spring-y, while still classic and timeless. I recommend staying away from character tshirts or lots of text on the clothing that would take away from you, the subject. The clothing choices should enhance the look of the family, not detract from it.

Take a look at the grouping in this image. Maybe it will give you some ideas to work from. My clothing choices are always from Gap or Old Navy with permission, but you can be inspired from this palette to perhaps pull together outfits in your own closets, or you can shop anywhere you choose.

There is so much I could post about. The move, Christmas, the wonderful town of Charleston, the beaches. Then there’s the Holiday Light show, the aquarium, the open air market downtown, the informative and dreamy carriage ride into the historic part of the city. I could talk about my in-laws visiting.

But these pictures of my pup, who is growing up waaay too fast, caught my eye. Just a few short months ago, he was a mere armful. Now he looks like a full grown dog. He is 6 months old now, and Charleston living is treating him well.

Michelle, how much does he resemble his big brother?

Moving | Charleston Portrait Photographer

Posted on November 18, 2009

I am finishing the packing today. Tomorrow we load the moving truck, and Monday we are officially heading east. I am unable to do any more photo sessions here in Albuquerque. I’ll have my camera and laptop, but the big computer is taking a ride on the truck. I won’t see it again until Dec.3rd, so no photo editing for me:)

I will come back later and post some of my favorite photos from Albuquerque and the southwest. I will also try to document our trip east if I have internet in the hotels we stay at along the way. Then I will post some beach pictures, because that will be our first stop when we get to Charleston!

I had a super fun opportunity to photograph a gorgeous, sweet 2 week old today, along with his sweet family.

Here is a very quick sneak peek. I will be working on the rest this weekend:)

Thanks Michelle for setting this up and for the use of your fabulous, can’t-miss Pumpkin Patch (no, really, you MUST go and bring your kids some time in October!!!) – and buy pumpkins while you are there!

Of course I had to set up a Fall pumpkin scene.

How much cuteness can you stand? Because this is ridiculous.

An image like this begs to be seen in black and white.

And one shot of his lovely big sis. She was SO much fun! Lots more pics of her to come.

Thank you to my new friend, Holly for the use of her cute pumpkin hat, green blanket and leaves:)

A few weeks ago, I began a series of posts entitled “what to wear”. You can find them under the categories tab. Anyway, my plan was to add some weekly inspiration, just to give some ideas of nice coordinating family ensembles that would unify the family without taking the focus away from what’s important, the people!

So once a week turned into… uh, well, alot less than that. But I’m back with more. This time the color scheme is more subdued than the last one. A little less funky, a little more classic. The idea is the same- coordinating, up to date styles that bring the whole family together. All of the clothing used for these inspirational samples can be found at The Gap or Old Navy.
